Carroll City officials tonight will consider awarding Badding Construction of Carroll a bid for the 10th phase of the Corridor of Commerce project.
Badding is the low bidder at $1,039,000, and even with design costs factored in, the project comes in $250,000 lower than the engineer’s estimate of $1.5 million.
The second-lowest bidder for the construction portion was Ten Point Construction of Denison.
The phase will include landscaping, streetscape and lighting work on Seventh Street between West and Carroll street; on Seventh Street between Main and Clark streets; the Westgate Mall parking lot; and the Fourth Street parking lot.
The work is expected to be complete by Sept. 30, 2021.
The Corridor of Commerce has improved the public infrastructure in large swaths of Carroll’s commercial district over the past two decades following the vision of former Carroll Mayor Ed Smith, who hatched the idea.
The council meeting is at 5:15 p.m. today.
