Carroll High Marching Band earns runner-up honors in Class 3A competition at the 61st Annual Band Day held Sept. 29, 2018, in Carroll. The Tiger band, under the direction of Jennifer Swope, placed behind Boone and ahead of Greene County.

The 62nd-annual Carroll Band Day parade that was set for Saturday is canceled because of the threat of storms, the Carroll Chamber of Commerce has decided.

"We're disappointed as we were looking forward to some outstanding high school and middle school bands performing this year, and appreciate the support from nearly 70 businesses and organizations who planned to join us with parade entries," the Chamber said in its cancellation notice. "We're looking forward to better weather for this wonderful Carroll tradition next year."

The National Weather Service predicts a 90-percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday morning, with up to a half inch of rain.

"There is a marginal risk for a stronger thunderstorm or two which may contain strong winds, hail, lightning and brief heavy rainfall," the weather service warns.
