A Crawford County resident was among three people who died in the past day after being infected by the new coronavirus, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

The person was between the ages of 61 and 80 and was among six residents who have tested positive for the virus in that county. Two others who died were residents of Madison and Johnson counties and were older than 60.

The total number of new confirmed coronavirus cases in Iowa in the past day is 122, which is three shy of the largest daily increase of the outbreak. There now have been 1,510 confirmed cases and 34 deaths.

The vast majority of new cases are in central and eastern Iowa. In western Iowa, Buena Vista County had one more case reported in the past day, and Woodbury County had three.

Carroll County has not had another confirmed case since its first weeks ago. As of Friday, 102 people in the county had been tested for the virus, which is about 0.5 percent of the county's total population.
