A 23-year-old Carroll man who was being followed by a police officer on the suspicion of drunken driving tried to park his pickup truck in his driveway early this morning, but after he exited the truck it rolled across a street and struck a garage, according to a police report.
Brodrick James Greer is charged with second-offense operating while intoxicated. His alleged blood-alcohol concentration was .233 percent, which is nearly three times the legal limit to drive.
An officer was following Greer when he turned into his driveway in the 500 block of East Bluff Street about 12:44 a.m. and parked before the officer was able to initiate a traffic stop. After the vehicle rolled across Bluff Street and struck the garage — which caused an estimated $5,000 to $10,000 worth of damage — Greer "came to my patrol car and admitted to consuming alcohol and smelled like alcohol," according to a criminal complaint. Greer had attempted to run after the truck to stop it.
Greer was also cited for not having insurance and for failure to maintain control of a vehicle.
