Jamie Christian Hansman

A 51-year-old Glidden man who is barred from owning firearms because of several domestic assault convictions faces up to 10 years in federal prison for having a shotgun and rifle last year, according to court records.

Jamie Christian Hansman is charged in federal court with possession of a firearm by a person convicted of domestic violence.

Hansman allegedly possessed a 20-gauge shotgun and a .22-caliber rifle in April 2020. The details of what led to the federal charge are not clear in the court records, but the accusation stems from an investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Ken Pingrey declined to publicly discuss the case while the charge is pending.

Hansman had four domestic abuse assault convictions dating back to 1998 before he was found with the weapons, court records show.

In July, he was arrested again in Glidden for domestic assault for striking a woman with a large flashlight that caused her to bleed.

In August, he was accused of violating a no-contact order when he allegedly went into the Glidden house, poured lighter fluid on the floor and threatened to burn down the house.

In October, Hansman was convicted of the assault charge and received a two-year suspended prison sentence.

Hansman also has several convictions for drug possession, court records show.

A court hearing to decide whether to continue to hold Hansman in jail while his federal case proceeds is set for Monday.
