COON RAPIDS: Coon Rapids businessmen and businesswomen now are able to apply for COVID-19 financial assistance through the generosity of several local organizations.
The City of Coon Rapids, Coon Rapids Development Group (CRDG), Main Street Coon Rapids (MSCR), Creating Great Places (CGP) and a private donor launched a Coon Rapids Stronger Together Partnership to provide emergency grants to assist small businesses in maintaining or reopening business operations impacted by the COVID-19 virus.
The City of Coon Rapids, CRDG, CGP, MSCR and a private individual have pledged $35,500 to the partnership. All the funds will be put into the Coon Rapids Stronger Together Partnership fund and are to be administered by the CRDG following approval by a review committee.
Businesses operating in Coon Rapids that were directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic will be eligible to apply for a grant. This assistance is intended to provide businesses with only immediate, short-term, cash-flow assistance (maximum of $5,000). The application form is available at www.coonrapidsiowa.com. Completed applications are due to the CRDG (123 3rd Ave., Coon Rapids, IA 50058) by noon, Friday, May 22.
While there is a limited amount of funding available, the committee says, it will do its best to distribute funds to provide temporary assistance amid changes to business. Grant funds are to be spent on regular business operating expenses (i.e. payroll, utilities, inventory, rent/mortgage). For more information, contact Jes Leighty at 712-999-7749.
