LAKE CITY: The first baby of 2020 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City has arrived. Elliott Andrew Carlson was born to Jill and Andrew Carlson.
The New Year baby entered the world at 2:21 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, weighing 9 pounds, 4 ounces and is 20.5 inches long.
He was delivered by Dr. Derek Duncan, board-certified family-practice and obstetrics physician.
Elliott Andrew was welcomed by big sisters Ava, 7, and Olivia, 4, and grandparents Bonny and Dale Carlson of Manson and Kim and Steve Cabrera of Barnum.
Jill and Andrew Carlson and their children live in Manson. Jill is a first-grade teacher at Manson Northwest Webster Elementary School in Barnumn.
Andrew is the auto restoration/collision instructor at Iowa Central Community College and owner of Hilltop Hotrods Auto Restoration Shop.
To celebrate the birth of the New Year baby, the family was given a basket full of gifts. Items included diapers, and baby wipes donated by Stewart Memorial Community Hospital.
Gifts given by SMCH employees included pacifiers, sleeper and diaper changer from Casey Wetter; hooded bath towel from Pam Hospelhorn; two baby basics kits from Randy and Sammi Small; brush and comb set, book and travel kit from Cindy Carstens; teddy bear, fork-and-spoon set and toothbrush from Lisa Wiederin; sleeper from Linda Rath; baby bather, bath squirts, fleece blanket, bath puppets, outlet plugs, nursery care kit, socks, baby wash and baby lotion from Carmen Ludwig; book and seasonal bibs from Jim and Jodi Henkenius; Hawkeye sneakers, toy stuffed fox and book from Lara Cornelius; outfit from Lisa Findley; gift certificate from Jenni Macke; two burp cloths, bottle and warmer, taggy, pacifier keeper and diaper kit from SMCH housekeeping department; and laundry basket from Jennifer Snyder.
