Kuemper Catholic High School inducted 11 juniors and six seniors into the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society Nov. 18.
Kuemper’s chapter, known as the Father Kuemper Honor Society, inducts members who meet criteria for the National Honor Society pillars of scholarship, leadership, character and service.
All members of Father Kuemper Honor Society go through an application process. Juniors and seniors who have a career grade-point average of 3.75 or higher are invited to apply. In their application, students are asked about their involvement in activities both in and out of school, including community service and leadership roles. The faculty is asked to fill out an evaluation regarding the character of each applicant. Teachers making up the Faculty Council examined all these documents. The students honored were selected as having best demonstrated all of the qualifications needed to become a member of the Father Kuemper Honor Society.
Honor Society students participate in a number of service activities, hosting fall and spring blood drives for LifeServe Blood Center, serving as supervisors and leading the Then Feed Just One food-packing program in April, helping with the annual Kuemper Phon-athon and Kuemper Ball, and other activities as needed throughout the year.
