KIWANIS HOSTS GE OFFICIALS: The Carroll Kiwanis Club hosted five members of the General Electric management staff at a dinner Wednesday night in the Fireside room of Tony’s Restaurant. After the dinner, the Kiwanians were taken on a tour of the G.E. plant. G.E. staff members on hand for the dinner included, from left, front row: Dan Johnson, manager of employee and community relations; Gib Johnson, specialist in relations practices and communications and Jack Gleason, plant accountant; standing, back row, from left: Robert Day, general manager of the plant; Donald Finch, manager of manufacturing and engineering and Gus Harnack, president of the Kiwanis Club.

KICKOFF FOR COFFEE DAY: A toast by Iowa Gov. Robert D. Ray and Harold Van Allen, president of the Iowa Restaurant Assn., kicked off the annual “Coffee Day” sponsored by the association.
