Carroll County Conservation Foundation will host an open house showcasing the new east-side shelter house at Swan Lake State Park from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7.
Free food, catered by Lidderdale Country Store, and drinks will be served.
The shelter house opened this spring and already has been used for an array of events — graduation and birthday parties, family reunions, a car show and more.
The shelter seats up to 160 people and has a kitchen with appliances and serving island.
The nearly $400,000 construction cost was paid for with private donations, a grant and Carroll County funding. Much in-kind work was done in the construction.
