  • 0

An 18-year-old Carroll man who allegedly attacked a police officer when he was arrested in July when he was 17 for drug and alcohol possession will face charges in adult district court, according to court records.

Kayden Nelson faces charges of assault on a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance and minor in possession of alcohol.

Those charges stem from a July 13 incident at a trailer house at 914 U.S. Highway 30 East. Officers responded to a report that someone was intoxicated there about 12:54 a.m.

Nelson is accused of possessing alcohol and an anti-anxiety drug. Police Chief Brad Burke said Nelson tripped an officer during his arrested and kicked at the officer’s legs and feet.

Nelson was initially charged in juvenile court, but the case was waived into district court, court records show.

The charges are together punishable by more than two years in prison if he is convicted.
