FRIENDLY TOWN VISITORS HERE: Although Carroll's gray weather earlier this week put a damper on some of the plans made for children visiting through the Friendly Town program, it certainly didn't dampen their enthusiasm. The group, meeting on the courthouse lawn, includes (from left) LeRoy Johnson, 12, who is staying with the Gary Hackett family, route 2 Carroll, Jan Hackett, 6, Greg Hackett, 13, LeRoy's sister Patricia, 9, and Gwen Johnson (no relation), 12, who is staying with the Harry Richardson family, Carroll. Gwen and Deb Richardson, 13, have had to postpone their water-skiing plans but have spent the week playing wiffle ball. Gwen found time to make a dress for school. The Hacketts and their guests celebrated the oldest Hackett daughter's birthday at Swan Lake and will help LeRoy celebrate his 13th birthday next week. The Friendly Town guests arrived Aug. 1 and will return to their homes in Des Moines Aug. 15.
