SCHOLARSHIPS PRESENTED: Friday was scholarship day at the Des Moines Area Community College School of Practical Nursing. Mrs. L. A. Smith (right), president of the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, presented the first scholarships to be given under the Auxiliary's new scholarship program to (from left) Susan Thelen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Thelen of Anita; Cheryl Hogan, daughter of Mrs. Rita Hogan of Carroll; and Colleen Tiernan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Tiernan of Stuart.

NOT TAKING BACK SEAT: The liberated woman is not about to take a back seat in any profession — not even bus driving, in the case of Joyce Wearstler, 20-year-old sophomore at Ohio's Kent State University. She is a part-time driver for the Campus Bus Service.
