HIGH YIELD CONTESTANT: Don Jorgensen, Lohrville, one of the top contestants in the annual Carroll Kiwanis Club corn grower's contest, is shown on his farm near Lanesboro. From left are Don Roecker, Carroll, Jorgensen and Arbie Neppel, Carroll. Last year Jorgensen had a yield of 143.5 bushels per acre. This year's yield has not been determined but is expected to be high. Seed bed preparation included 300 pounds of 7-26-26 per acre, 20,500 plants per acre, and 140 pounds of side-dress 7-21-7 liquid fertilizer. The corn was sprayed for weed control and only cultivated once.
