A 65-year-old Carroll woman was seriously injured Thursday when she was struck by a pickup truck as she walked across U.S. Highway 30 at its intersection with Clark Street, according to a police report.
Joleen Sanders was crossing the highway about 4:09 p.m. when a southbound pickup truck on Clark driven by Kimberly Mead, 60, of Carroll, tried to turn east on the highway and struck Sanders.
The collision knocked Sanders to the ground and pinned her beneath the truck. She was taken to St. Anthony Regional Hospital and later transferred to a Des Moines hospital with unspecified serious injuries.
It's unclear whether Mead faces any traffic citations for the incident.
