A 51-year-old Manilla man faces up to 15 years in prison for stealing $189 cash and a cellphone from another man as he threatened to shoot him in August, according to court records.
Ronnie Wayne Lee pleaded guilty to intimidation with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon and was sentenced to prison last week.
He must serve at least five years before being eligible for release, court records show.
The Aug. 10 incident happened while Lee was in a motorhome with two other people about 3:20 p.m. in the 24000 block of Eagle Avenue, which is about two miles west of Halbur.
Lee was accused of brandishing a .380-caliber handgun, firing it multiple times and taking the money and phone from a 26-year-old Denison man, according to court records.
From there, Lee allegedly forced the man from the motorhome and drove away.
Investigators later found the vehicle in Manilla. They found Lee and the motorhome’s other former occupant about three hours later in a car with a Texas license plate that was traveling on U.S. Highway 71 just south of Carroll.
Lee had faced a felony robbery charge that is punishable by up to 25 years in prison, but it was dismissed as part of a plea deal.
