Born Feb. 11, 1918, Adeline was a daughter of Joseph H. and Ella (Ellen Hoelscher) Renze in Carroll County, Iowa. She married Larry J. Reicks on June 3, 1940, in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Roselle, Iowa. They made their home in Carroll, purchasing the home of her grandparents, where she lived until two years ago.

For years Adeline worked as homemaker and receptionist/chief scheduler for her husband’s trucking and corn-shelling business.

As a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Adeline was active in the Legion of Mary for many years, taking Communion and visiting the shut-ins and “old people” until she gave up driving at 100 years of age. She also volunteered at New Hope Village Store for more than 25 years. She loved interacting with people, whether it was at parish dinners, funerals, at daily Mass, or any of the meals she hosted in her home.

Adeline is survived by three brothers: LaVern of Avoca, Iowa, Cyril of Carroll and Melvin of Manning. Challenged to follow her example of faith and service are her children, Ron (Janella) of McAllen, Texas, Father Allan of Carroll, Diane (Stan) Mahoney of Burlington and Gail Johll of Johnston; daughter-in-law Helen (Jim); 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Larry; son Jim; son-in-law Joe Johll (Gail); her parents; and brothers Elmer, Gilbert and Norbert.
