Aura Lee was born on Jan. 13, 1963, in Sioux City, Iowa, and welcomed home by her loving parents, Kenneth and Sheila Burkett, and three older siblings.
Aura Lee spent her younger years in Le Mars, Iowa, until her father’s business brought her family to Carroll in 1974. She graduated from Kuemper High School, Class of 1981. Aura Lee married Dean Sibenaller on May 7, 1983, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. To this union they were blessed with five children, Joe, Erin, Krystle, Taylor and Jordan.
Aura Lee had a heart of gold and enjoyed caring for animals, rooting for “the underdog,” gardening, and scrapbooking. She was a dedicated and compassionate advocate to the elderly as an activity director at St. Anthony Nursing Home. One of her significant contributions that has become a beautiful tradition is that of “The Bucket List” for her residents.
Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and she was theirs. She spent most of her weekends traveling to visit them and hoped to retire closer to them in the near future. Her family will remember her as an amazing mom, grandma and friend, always thinking of others before herself.
Aura Lee is survived by her husband, Dean Sibenaller; children, Joe Sibenaller, Erin (Darin) Hynick, Krystle (Allen) Hergert, Taylor (Jordan) Miller and Jordan Sibenaller; grandchildren, Jessie and Ellie Hynick, Chase and Logan Miller, Wyatt Hergert and Baby Hergert on the way; sister, Bryce (Dennish) Custodio; brothers, Jake (Cheryl) Burkett and Clay Burkett; sisters-in-law Joyce (Doug) Clark, Nancy (Mike) Schultes and Lisa Fuller; brother-in-law Richard Sibenaller; as well as many nieces and nephews and close friends and work family at St. Anthony Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Sheila Burkett; parents-in-law, Dominic and Jacqueline Sibenaller; brothers-in-law Ronald Sibenaller and Gary Fuller; and sister-in-law Joyce Sibenaller.
