Debbie Leigh Hanson, 66, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020, in Clinton, Arkansas.

Debbie was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, on Jan. 31, 1954, to Wayne and Nancy (Simonson) Hanson. Debbie was the first of seven children. The family lived on various farms in northern Iowa and eventually settled in Glidden, Iowa, in 1966. After graduating from Glidden-Ralston High School in 1972, Debbie attended AIB (American Institute of Business) in Des Moines, Iowa. She worked for Dial/Norwest Financial, Xerox and most recently for Southern Cross Inc.

Debbie enjoyed hiking and the great outdoors. She also enjoyed reading, collecting antiques and working on the family genealogy.

She is survived by her sisters and brothers: Susan Hanson (Butch), West Des Moines, Iowa; Marilyn Mueggenberg (Richard), Arcadia, Iowa; Steven Hanson (Brenda), Oxford, Florida; Marcia Jensen (Ken), Glidden, Iowa; Max Hanson (Leslie), Volo, Illinois; and Barbara Hanson, Manning, Iowa; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arthur and Florence Simonson and Merle and Clara Hanson; and her parents, Wayne and Nancy Hanson.

She will be greatly missed by her dear friends Kristy Wolfenbarger, Fayettville, Arkansas, Mescal McCollum, Harrison, Arkansas, and cousins Jayne Hanson and Barry Kohnke, Carroll, Iowa, and Lorie Chittenden, Lake Ozark, Missouri

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ruthven, Iowa. A fitting memorial for Debbie would be to donate to your local library.
