Dick Lamberty, 86, of Lake City, died surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City.

Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Lake City Union Church with Pastor Randy Russom officiating.

Burial will be held at a later date.

Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Frank Lamberty was born on April 11, 1933, in Carroll, Iowa, to Joseph and Bertha (Bonham) Lamberty. He graduated in 1951 with his future wife, Beverly McCaulley. They married on Oct. 4, 1951, and together they celebrated 68 years of marriage. He joined the U.S. Army in 1956, serving at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, Colorado. After returning to Iowa, Dick worked at John Deere in Lake City as a mechanic then for Green Line in Sac City.

Dick and Bev fostered children for 19 years, and his children and grandchildren were the most important part of his life. He was a member of the Lake City American Legion and served as secretary for many years. He also served as president of the Lions Club and was on the city council in Lake City.

Dick is survived by his wife, Bev, of Lake City; children Richard “Rex Rusher” Lamberty of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Leona Davis of Denver, Colorado, Kathleen (Chris) Prima of Clarksville, Tennessee, Dora (James) Ludley of Oxford Junction, Iowa, and special granddaughter Heather (Scott) Anderson of Manson; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Shawn; sister Helen Kelly; brother Joseph Lamberty and an infant brother.
