Donald O’Tool, 91, of Lake City, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City.
Funeral was Sunday, Jan. 12, at Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City.
A private family burial was held Monday, Jan. 13, at the Carroll City Cemetery.
Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City assisted with arrangements.
Donald Edward O’Tool was born on Sept. 15, 1928, in Auburn, Iowa, to Edward and Nettie (Olerich) O’Tool. On Sept. 15, 1949, Donald married Clarice Nelson at First Baptist Church in Lake City, and together they celebrated 70 years of marriage. Donald was a farmer and member of First Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent, teacher and longtime deacon. He was also a member of Farmer’s Co-op, Calhoun County REC and Corn Belt Boards, Cottonwood Cemetery Board, and Jackson Township Trustee.
Donald is survived by his wife, Clarice, of Lake City; daughters Kathryn Holm of Lake City, Donita (Sheldon) Petersen of Leesburg, Virginia, and Julie (Peter) Gutgsell of Jericho, Vermont; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Gary Holm.
