Donna, a daughter of Clayton and Mary (Nees) Daniel, was born on Oct. 1, 1932, on the family farm south of Lidderdale, Iowa. She attended Holy Family School in Lidderdale and graduated from St. Angela Academy in Carroll.

On Jan. 22, 1951, Donna married Vincent Gehling at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale. Donna and Vincent lived on a farm south of Halbur for many years. She was a devoted wife and mother.  Donna enjoyed gardening and canning the bounty it created. She raised chickens, and gathered and cleaned the eggs to sell to the many customers that stopped by. She also delivered to the many cafés in town.  Donna enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for family special occasions. Donna was also an accomplished seamstress, which kept her busy. She loved to embroider items, which she gave to her children and grandchildren. After moving to Carroll in 1985 she enjoyed the neighborhood ladies’ coffee gatherings and games they played. In her spare time Donna often read story books. Donna was a member of St. Lawrence Church-St. John Paul II Parish.
