Edward Alvin Petersen, 92, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Journey Senior Services in Carroll.

Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Ryan Roehrig of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll officiating. Organist for the service will be Abe Batten. Casket bearers will be Ed’s family members. Burial will be at the Cameron Cemetery near Audubon.

Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. Friday at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home.

Those in attendance at Ed’s service are asked to abide by COVID-19 guidelines, and face masks are required at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com.

Ed was born on April 24, 1929, on his family’s farm on the Carroll-Audubon County line, and he was a son of Hans and Katherine (Loeffler) Petersen. He spent his early childhood in Carroll County. Ed started farming for Mr. and Mrs. Albert Albertson in 1944 with his brother Leo. Ed lived on the home place 3 miles west and 3 miles south of Dedham for 35 years. Ed married Ruth Lorraine Kramer on Dec. 13, 1964, at Zion Lutheran Church at Beaver Township, Humboldt, Iowa. Ed was a farmer at heart and also enjoyed raising livestock.

Ed is survived by his brother, Leo Petersen, of Templeton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Katherine Petersen; and his wife, Ruth, in 1992.
