Elaine C. Dentlinger, 94, of Carroll, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll.

A private family funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 19, at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Lectors will be Brittany Kohrt and Denise Barnes. Casket bearers will be Curtis Dentlinger, David Dentlinger, Eric Johnson, Chad Grossman, John Klehn, Tyler Roetman, Andrew Kohrt and Dallas Barnes. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Elaine Clara Mary Imming was born on Oct. 9, 1926, in Arcadia, Iowa, a daughter of Herman and Mary (Henkenius) Imming. She was baptized at St. John Catholic Church in Arcadia, attended St. John School, and later graduated from SS. Peter and Paul School when her parents moved to Carroll.

On Aug. 16, 1948, Elaine was married to Jerome Bernard Dentlinger at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll by the Rev. Otto Dentlinger, Jerome’s uncle. To this union were three sons: Leroy Philip, Donald Herman, and Jerome Merle.

Elaine did housework for several families in the Carroll area and as a housekeeper for Carroll Health Center for 12 years. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, traveling and attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities. Elaine was a member of St. John Paul II Parish-Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll.

Elaine is survived by her children: Leroy (Julie) Dentlinger of Gill, Colorado, Donald (Gail) Dentlinger of Carroll and Jerome (Ann) Dentlinger of Glidden; her grandchildren: Curtis (Jacque) Dentlinger, Kimberly (Eric) Johnson, Jessica (Chad) Grossman, Tiffany (John) Klehn, Jennifer (Tyler) Roetman, Brittany (Andy) Kohrt, David Dentlinger and Denise (Dallas) Barnes; 13 great-grandchildren; her brother: Arthur (Beulah) Imming; her sisters-in-law: Rita Dentlinger and Eileen Imming; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Herman and Mary Imming; her husband: Jerome, in 2011; her sisters: Dolores Snyder and Estella Schulte; her brothers: Elmer, Merle, Herbert, Marvin and Melvin Imming; as well as three siblings in infancy.
