Richard “Albert” Pudenz, 63, of Carroll, died unexpectedly at his home in Carroll on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021.
Funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Officiating will be Father Gary Snyder. Honorary casket bearers will be Laura Hackfort, Paula Meiners, Makayla Kies, Paige Roeder, Joel Harris, Tom Snyder, Denny Danner and Randy Drees. Casket bearers will be Matt Pudenz, Pat Pudenz, Neil Hackfort, Shaun Meiners, Alan Kies, Jacob Luft, Jay Riesberg and Paul Roeder. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Those in attendance are required to wear a face covering and abide by social-distancing guidelines.

Richard Albert Pudenz was born on Oct. 27, 1957, in Carroll, Iowa, a son of John and Claire (Marks) Pudenz. He attended St. Lawrence Catholic Grade School and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1976. Rick spent most of his life doing what he loved best, farming. Later in life, he opened Embees Café in the Carroll sale barn and most recently was a cook at the Angry Beaver in Maple River.
Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and socializing with his many friends.
Rick is survived by his mother: Claire Pudenz of Carroll; brother: Mike (Patty) Pudenz of Carroll; sister: Susan (Paul) Roeder of Odebolt; nieces: Laura (Neil) Hackfort and their children Kyler and Madyson of Ankeny, Paula (Shawn) Meiners and their children Kolton and Kora of Kansas City, Missouri, Makayla (Alan) Kies of Spirit Lake, and Paige Roeder (fiancé Jacob Luft) of Ankeny; nephews Matthew Pudenz of Winterset and Patrick Pudenz and his daughter Olivia of Westside; as well as other extended relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father: John Pudenz; and his nephew Cody Hammond, son of Susan Roeder.
