William “Bill” Stormer, 83, of Coon Rapids, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020 at his home.

Bill was born on a farm northeast of Bayard on June 14, 1936, to Phillip and Viola (Reasoner) Stormer. He grew up in Guthrie County, attending various county schools and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1954. Bill then went to Minnesota for a time where he met and married his first wife, Evelyn (Stensrude), a marriage in which three sons were born. They came back to the Coon Rapids area where they farmed for 10 years until they divorced.

Bill moved to Carroll to be a welder at Heider Manufacturing for two years, then went on to work various construction jobs around Iowa until retiring in 1997.

In 1970, Bill met Judy (Underberg) of Breda, and they married in 1974. They lived in Carroll and Lidderdale until ultimately moving to an acreage north of Coon Rapids (his “little piece of heaven”) where they remained until Bill passed.

Bill enjoyed traveling to Branson and Las Vegas, hunting, fishing, camping and walking in the woods. But most of all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his wife, Judy, no matter what they were doing.

Bill is survived by his wife, Judy, of Coon Rapids; two sons, Jerry (Marsha) of Swisher, Iowa, and David of Ridgeport, Iowa; daughter, Brandi of Glidden; sister, Sandie (Larry Cady) of Coon Rapids; a brother, Ron (Juanita) of Hamilton, Illinois; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip Stormer in 1990 and Viola (Reasoner) Stormer in 1996; an infant brother, Jerry; his grandparents; and son Mike of Florida in 2016.

At Bill’s request, there will be no wake or service, and his family will have a private service at a later date.
