In this week’s Carroll County Board of Supervisors meeting the board approved the low bid of $10.9 million from Badding Construction of Carroll for construction of the new county law-enforcement center and sheriff’s administration building. Also, the board voted to have Shive-Hattery value engineer some parts of the construction that have been identified that could be reduced.
Next the board was given a presentation from Rey Freeman of Rey Freeman Communications Consulting from Minnetonka, Minnesota, on a Motorola public-safety-radio-system proposal review. The board asked for more information on pricing and possible lease-to-purchase options. That proposal was approximately $3.7 million with lease options varying from $817,000 to $437,000 per year. The Board will revisit this in the near future.
Secondary Roads presented several drain issues, Bruggeman Bridge repair quotes, utility permits all were approved. County Engineer Dave Paulson presented a resignation letter for himself effective Jan. 2, 2020. The board accepted this with many regrets as Dave has been a valuable employee throughout the years. The board authorized Dave to contract our concrete pile to be crushed and to purchase 10,000 more tons of gravel.
One plat was approved, and payables were reviewed and approved.
The committee put together to interview IT applicants asked the board to approve the committee to make an offer. That will be done as soon as possible.
