To the Editor:

After months of comparative downtime due to the COVID pandemic, the news of Carroll being chosen the site of the Classes 1A and 2A High School Baseball Tournaments is huge — as well defined by Carroll Parks and Recreation Director Jack Wardell.

The Carroll Athletic Association was formed in 1946 by the late Bill Farner. We need to credit the current members of that organization headed by Barry Bruner for the recent fundraising and restoration of Carroll Merchants Park.

The maintaining and updating of this valuable community asset is a continuing project. The condition and availability of the facility undoubtedly was a consideration by the Iowa High School Athletic Association selection committee.

Let’s show all those visiting Carroll for the baseball event — what Carroll nice is!
