Brass Tacks for Rural Iowa

  • 0

Iowa’s growing opposition to CO2 pipelines hit home in Adair County recently, as Iowa’s corporate agribusiness leaders announced a proposed second phase of pipeline expansion through our home region. In this political era usually portrayed in the media as divisive and corrosive, I can report that my family, neighbors, co-workers, friends, and acquaintances are nearly 100% united against these projects.

The expansion is part of Navigator’s proposed “Heartland Greenway,” a 1,300-mile network of pipelines connecting ethanol plants from throughout South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Illinois. This section going through Adair County would connect the Menlo POET ethanol plant to its plant in Corning.
