To the Editor:

Carroll County Farm Bureau would like to bring awareness to the Healthiest State Initiative, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization driven by the goal to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation. By engaging communities, schools, organizations and individuals, we want to inspire Iowans and their communities to improve their health and happiness, and ultimately achieve our goal.

In past years, Iowa has ranked #26 in the nation when it comes to being physically, emotionally and mentally healthy, which is important now more than ever. This year, Carroll County Farm Bureau has donated $100 to each of the Carroll County School communities: Ar-We-Va, Carroll, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Glidden-Ralston, IKM-Manning and Kuemper to fund healthful breakfast and/or lunch options for each school.

We inspire individuals to participate in the Live Healthy Iowa 5K event being held on Saturday, May 1, at Swan Lake State Park. Proceeds from these events will benefit the local wellness coalitions in partner communities, as well as Live Healthy Iowa Kids initiatives. For details and registration information go to or check out the link on the “Carroll County Farm Bureau” Facebook page.

We hope to bring awareness by helping change Iowa’s well-being one individual at a time.

Brian Hoffman

President, Carroll County Farm Bureau
