Presentation shows innovative uses of soybean oil

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Monday, Sept. 13, and the following items were on the agenda:

— Secondary Roads: Review and approve plans for BROS-SWAP-C014 (169-SE-14 (N3 bridge replacement) Section 04-T82N-R35 W consists of a 80-foot concrete slab on 280th Street over field stream. Letting is Dec. 21. Estimated cost $390,000.

— The board approved three utility permits: MidAmerican new poles from Falcon to Ivy (Old Highway 30); REC is boring a new line on Robin Avenue east of Lidderdale; REC is installing a new overhead line along 280th Street.

— The board received a department update from Zac Andersen, county engineer. West of Halbur is currently under construction with resurfacing and is expected to be finished the latter part of the week.

—The board approved payables in the sum of $214,828.32.

— The board received a proposal from The Stephen Group for assessment of Carroll County health services and community health needs. The board tabled this item for further review.

— The board had a presentation from Soy Transportation Organization. Mike Steenhoek, executive director of Soy Transportation Coalition, explained and showed all new innovative uses for soybean oil such as PoreShield concrete enhancer and RePlay asphalt sealant. Mike also highlighted a number of relatable innovating bridge replacement and repair concepts.

— The board then approved two plats 1. LOT1 SW 1/4 NW 1/4 Section 35, Township 85N, Range 33W (Jasper Township). 2. LOT1 SW 1/4 SW 1/4 Section 2 Township 82N, Range 33W (Union Township).

— The board approved Carroll County, National Voter Registration Month for September.

— The board approved a Class C liquor license for Whiskey Creek, dba Whiskey Run.

Manure management updates: Dennis Riesberg, Section 19, Roselle Township; Grand 4, Section 4, Jasper Township; Conner Finishing Site, Section 7, Glidden Township; Jeff Schon, Section 1, Pleasant Valley Township; MT Pork, Section 27, Kniest Township; Cornerstone Partnership, Section 12, Richland Township; and Grote Brothers Finisher, Section 28, Wheatland Township.
