The public land auction of 113.62 acres of county-owned farm ground will be held in the Carroll County Courthouse Courtroom at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. This is an opportunity to purchase land near Carroll that has been under county ownership for many years. The full sale bill is available in many county publications and is on the Carroll County website.
At the Nov. 25 meeting of the Board of Supervisors, the first item of business was the review and payment of bills. Next the supervisors and auditor reviewed cleaning of the lower level of the Fricke Building. The current cleaners have given notice that they will discontinue working under their current contract. More information will be collected before any decision is made.
The supervisors then considered salaries and health-insurance rates for the next fiscal year. It was decided to use a 2.5 percent salary increase and a 7 percent increase in insurance for preliminary budgetary purposes. These amounts may change as more information becomes available.
The Motorola project manager gave an overview on the ISICS (Iowa State Interoperable Communication System), which is scheduled for completion in August 2020. Completion of the system will greatly improve communications at all emergency situations.
County Engineer Dave Paulson presented and the supervisors approved a utility permit in Section 32 of Ewoldt Township for Western Iowa Power. An employee resignation and a vacation-carryover request was also approved.
Manure-management annual updates were also approved for Don and Doug Gerken Farm, Section 21, Wheatland Township, Dale Ludwig, Section 11, Kniest Township and Matt Gehling, Section 31, Pleasant Valley Township.
