Carroll bests Spencer, narrowly falls to Atlantic on Tuesday night

Six wins helped make the trip to Spencer on Tuesday night a little less long for the Carroll girls’ swim team.

Overall the Tigers were able to beat host school Spencer in the final standings 50-44. However, Atlantic was at the same meet, and they were able to best Carroll 48-46 at the end of the meet.

The first varsity event of the evening resulted in the first varsity win for Carroll on Tuesday when the 200-yard medley relay team of Jenna Currier, Madison Mohr, Melea Axman and Mackenzie Campbell were able to take the fastest time of 1:58.85. In the same event the team of Haley Lux, Olivia Boes, Sophia Polking and Madelyn Ehler were able to turn in the fifth best time.

Currier would later return to the top of the podium when she was able to pick up a win in the 200-yard individual medley event. There, she turned in a time of 2:17.82 to take the gold. Teammate Ashley Beagle was fourth in the same event.

Currier would later win the 100-yard butterfly event, turning in a time of 1:01.03. Polking finished fifth with a time of 1:13.03.

Currier was also a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team which won with a time of 1:45.02. Joining her on the team were Kelsey Gray, Campbell and Axman.

Axman was no stranger to gold medals either. She won the 50-yard freestyle event with a time of 25.4. Campbell finished fifth.

Later, Axman finished the 100-yard freestyle event with a time of 56.45, which was the fastest time of the night. Gray was third in the race with a time of 59.84.

Gray also finished second in the 200-yard freestyle race with a time of 2:12.3. Maddi McLaughlin finished sixth.

Madison Mohr led the team in the 100-yard breaststroke event. She finished second with a time of 1:15.09. Teammate Olivia Boes was fourth with a time of 1:31.34.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay event the team of Gray, Beagle, Polking and Mohr put together the second fastest time of the night with a time of 4:09.03.

In fifth the team of Rain Simpson-Weiss, Emily Ludwig, Lux and Emily Hansen finished with the fifth-best time of the night.

Campbell finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 6:09.34. Emily Hansen finished sixth in the same event.

Polking led Carroll with a fifth place finish in the 100-yard backstroke event . Her time was clocked at 1:13.48. Beagle finished sixth with a time of 1:14.44.
