Carroll finishes 1-3 at Saturday dual tournament

The Carroll High wrestling team went 1-3 over the weekend at the Mendenhall Dual tournament, which was held in Boone.

Carroll was able to win its dual against Raccoon River Conference foe, Boone 39-24.

Carroll started the dual with a win in the 126 pound section, where Jaxson Kuhlmann was able to pin his opponent in 4:19.

Cooper Ludwig kept the Carroll wins coming when he won his 132 pound match with a pin in 42 seconds.

Carter Drake would next add a win in the 138 pound weight class where he fought his way to a 3-1 decision.

Jireh Gallegos was able to pin his 145 pound opponent in 1:30.

Carroll also won the following matches by forfeit: Cole Miller (113); Abraham Dirkx (152); Cael Nelson (106).

The Tigers picked up wins in four of the first five matches against Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, but fell in the match 42-27.

Cael Nelson brought home the first win for Carroll when Nelson pinned his 106 pound opponent in 1:31. Cole Miller needed just 2:42 to win his 113 pound match via a pin.

Kuhlmann was able to gain a win in the 126 pound match when he won 10-3. The fourth win came from Ludwig who won the 132 pound match with a major decision 20-9 victory.

Abraham Dirkx would win the 152 pound match with a 9-0 major decision.

Tyson Bordenaro was able to get the better of his 220 pound match by gaining a major decision, 11-1 win.

The Tigers took on Dowling Catholic in the tournament where they fell 50-28.

In that match, the Tigers won five matches in a row.

It started with Kuhlmann winning in the 126 pound match with a pin in 3:29. A match later Ludwig was able to win the 132 pound match when he pinned his opponent in 58 seconds.

Drake won the 138 pound match by pinning his opponent in 1:31. Gallegos needed just two minutes to win the 145 pound match via a pin.

Dirkx kept the wins going with a major decision 9-0 win in the 152 pound match.

Against Valley, West Des Moines, Carroll was bested 39-28 in the match.

Kuhlmann was able to win the 126 pound match when he pinned his opponent in three minutes and four seconds.

Ludwig earned another win as he pinned his 132 pound opponent in 54 seconds.

Gallegos picked up another win as he needed just 91 seconds to beat his 145 pound opponent.

Dirkx capped off the wins for Carroll as he won a major decision, 11-3 match in the 152 pound match.
