Corey leads Titan boys with two wins at Monday’s home meet; Keira Hammen wins discus gold

Cole Corey started his final high school track season with plenty of confidence.

Corey was able to win two events at Monday night’s Chelsey Henkenius Early Bird track meet held in Lake City.

Corey started out his senior year with a win in the high jump, as he was the only jumper to clear 6 feet in the event. Teammate Keegan Soard finished fourth with a best jump of 5-feet-8-inches.

Corey also would gain a win in the 110 hurdles event, where he crossed the line after 16.53 on the track. Corey finished second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 59.38.

In the shuttle hurdle relay race, the SCC team of Corey, Soard, Kolin Folsom and Matt Nath had a fourth-place time of 1:17.13.

Evan Jacobs finished fifth in the 400-meter run with a time of 57.96.

In the 4x200 event, the SCC team of Brock Nattress, Parker Pagl, Matt Nath and Ashton Meyer finished sixth with a time of 1:52.86.

The 4x800 team of Jacob Kalkwarf, Tony Sanders, Zach Wilson and Ashton Meyer finished sixth with a time of 11:02.98.

Keira Hammen led the girls team of the Titans with a win in the discus event.

Hammen was able to have a best throw of 93-feet-2-inches.

Olivia Toms, Taylor Greene, Erin Shinn and Laura Greene made up the 4x200 team, where they finished second with a time of 2:03.35.

The 4x100 team of the Titans featured Olivia Toms, Kortney Riley, Erin Shinn and Jade Ridgely finished third with a time of 55.42.

Another third-place finish was turned in by Jade Ridgely in the 200-meter dash event with a time of 28.48.

Emma Myers joined the third-place party with the third-best time of the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:11.15.

In the sprint medley team, the quad of Kortney Riley, Erin Shinn, Laura Greene and Jade Ridgely finished fourth with a time of 2:09.93.

Alayna Murley finished fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 14:40.73.

Laura Greene led the Titans in the long-jump event with a best leap of 14-feet-6-inches; she finished fourth. Erin Shinn was sixth with a leap of 12-feet-6-inches.

Kiera Hammen also had the fourth-best throw of the shot-put event with a best effort of 31-feet even.

Ridgely finished fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.74. Taylor Greene placed sixth with a time of 14.36.

In the 4x800 race, the team of Evelyn Kramer, Scout Rohlfs, Catie Collison and Brielle Korleski finished fifth with a time of 12:52.69.

Brielle Korleski had the fifth fastest time in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:58.0.

Kortney Riley finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.69.

The next scheduled meet for the South Central Calhoun track team will be April 6, when the Titan boys host a meet in Lake City. That same day, the girls team will be in Gowrie for a meet.
