In two prior matches it seemed that Glidden-Ralston had been just a touch better.
On Monday night, the Crusaders reversed the course, and worked their way to a win over the Wildcats.
Both teams fought each other along the way with sets that went deep into the 20’s on both sides of the scoreboard, but the home court advantage of Coon Rapids-Bayard seemed to be the difference.
The Crusaders were able to earn a 3-1 victory over Glidden-Ralston. Although the Wildcats took the first set, 25-21, both teams engaged in a battle in the second set. Eventually it was Coon Rapids-Bayard gaining a 29-27 heart-stopping victory to tie the match.
From there the Crusaders were able to win the third set 25-20. They then outlasted the Wildcats 25-21 in the fourth set to take the win.
Alexa Culbertson led the Crusaders with 20 kills. Cassidy Baker had 32 assists.
Glidden-Ralston was led by senior Hannah Whiver who had 12 kills. Talia Schon and Gretchen Wallace both had eight kills each. Kim Daily led the Wildcats with 28 assists. Hailey Onken and Schon both had five digs.
Coon Rapids-Bayard played on Thursday night, with results not available at press time.
