Knights led by three boys’ medalists at SCC meet

Although it had been a few weeks since the Kuemper Catholic boys had been able to run, they hardly missed a step in Tuesday’s meet hosted by South Central Calhoun.

Pacing the way for the team, and crossing the line just 10 seconds behind the overall race leader was Tyler Putney. Putney finished second with a time of 18:25.43.

The hills on the back half of the course seemed to only work in Kuemper Catholic’s favor as they had two other runners finish in the top-10.

In fifth was Jack Hagen who ran a time of 18:46 in the meet. Two spots behind him was Michael Pottebaum who had the seventh fastest time of 18:57.05.

Patrick Hensel was close behind. His time was clocked at 19:50.57, placing him 20th overall. Caleb Monahan would finish 39th with a time of 20:34.06. Carter Drake had the 44th best time when he crossed the line at 20:47.01. Sam Janssen would finish the varsity runs for the Knights, stopping the clock at 21:19 for the 58th best time.

Overall Kuemper Catholic finished second with 73 points in the boys’ meet. Ogden won the meet with 38 points.

South Central Calhoun finished 12th in the meet with 300 points. East Sac was 14th with 371 points.

SCC’s runners were led by Ben Englin in 29th place his time was 20:14.71. Bryce Smidt finished in 64th with a time of 21:41. Tyler Lightner was 67th with a time of 21:53. Justin Hanks finished 69th with a time of 21:59. Eli Wheelock was 75th with a time of 22:42. Bennett Ludwig finished 83rd with a time of 25:18.

East Sac county was led by Nathan Pobanz with the 52nd fastest time at 20:58. Zach Blumhagen finished in 70th with a time of 22:02. Hutton Pasche was 79th with a time of 24:08. Jadon Horton was 84th with a time of 25:25.


On the girls’ side of things the South Central Calhoun team finished in third with 100 total points. Kuemper Catholic was 11th with 260 points.

Mariah Hardy led the way for SCC in the girls’ race with a ninth-place finish of 23:11.

Alexia Nelson finished 12th with a time of 23:46. Ashley Hanks fought through traffic and finished 24th with a tome of 24:49.

Titan teammates Brielle Korleski and Alayna Murley finished 27th and 28th respectively with times of 24:59 and 25:03. Catie Collison finished in 52nd with a time of 27:12.

Mariah Pagel was 56th with a time of 27:25.

The Knights were led by Keziah Janssen who finished 33rd with a time of 25:25. Alexandria Klein was 53rd with a time of 27:13. Lydia Mieners wrapped up a run of 27:52 to finish 58th.

Macy Tiefenthaler was 65th with a time of 28:24. Avery Jeschke crossed the line in 69th place with a time of 29:36. Emerson Walsh was 70th with a time of 29:42.

East Sac County did not have enough team members for a team score. They were led by Carola Busquets in 34th with a time of 25:33.

Fern Pasch finished in 42nd place with a time of 26:06. Lauren Litterer was 45th with a time of 26:35. Karli Flynn finished 74th with a time of 30:34.
