Knights overcome slow start, down Sioux City North

  • 0

At first it didn’t seem like there was going to be much to celebrate.

Then the offense for the Knights kicked in. Once they were able to get their offense going the Knights were able to take control of the game.

Eventually that control led to a 56-50 victory over Sioux City North.

The Knights were hindered by just six points in the first quarter as Sioux City North scored 11 points to hold the lead.

The Knights were able to respond with 16 points in the second quarter. Sioux City North kept their offense running with 14 points of their own, but the lead was starting to drain.

In the third quarter the Knights took total control of the game. Not only did their offense continue to excel, they scored 16 points again, but the defense broke through and limited Sioux City North offense.

The Knights limited Sioux City North to just nine points in the third.

Offense for both teams showed up again in the final quarter. Sioux City North scored 16, but the Knights were able to score 18 to preserve their six point victory.

Catherine Mayhall led the Knights with 20 points in the game. Lauren Boell was able to finish the contest with 13 total points. Elsa Tiefenthaler finished the contest with 11 points.

Karsyn Overmohle was able to score four points. Frannie Glynn finished with four points as well.

Kaci Peter and Aubrey Heuton both finished with two points each.

The victory was the fourth win in the last five games for the Knights. It was also the regular season finale for the Knights. They were able to finish the regular season with a 12-8 overall record.

The Knights will now have a couple of days to rest before they start their post season journey.

On Feb. 14 the Knights will travel west to Logan to take on Logan-Magnolia in a second-round game in the class 2A region 8 playoffs.

Logan-Magnolia is 17-4 this year and currently on a five-game win streak.
