The Knights had a successful week of soccer, picking up four wins out of five games.

The two most-recent wins came at Saturday’s West Central Valley tournament, where the Knights beat both West Central Valley and Van Meter. In both games, the Knights needed just one goal to gain the advantage.

In their contest against Van Meter, it was senior John Mayhall who was able to score the early goal for the Knights.

Mayhall, who has also been the team goalie in many games this year, picked up an assist from teammate Simon Wagner before Mayhall fired the shot past the Van Meter goalie in the first half.

The rest of the game, Kuemper possessed the ball well, as senior Noah Bauer finished the contest with three saves made.

The Knights also downed West Central Valley in a thrilling contest.

Neither team scored during the 80-minute regulation time or either overtime.

In the penalty kick shootout, both teams hit the ball well, but Kuemper Catholic made one more stop to win the shootout, 5-4 and claim an undefeated Saturday.
