Scoring explosions carried Kuemper to a 17-2 Hawkeye 10 Conference victory over Clarinda on Friday and 14-2 non-conference win over IKM-Manning on Saturday.
At Clarinda, Kuemper opened a 7-2 lead after four innings, then erupted for 10 runs in the sixth.
The Knights’ 18-hit attack was led by Hailey Ostrander with four, including two doubles; Kyndal Hilgenberg, Kenzie Schon and Kenadee Loew, three each, including two doubles apiece by Schon and Loew; and two by Kiley Trecker with a double.
Brianna Lux had a triple. Hilgenberg drove in four runs; Venteicher, three; and Jordan Schwabe, Lux, Schon and Trecker, two each.
Venteicher was the winning pitcher on a four-hitter, striking out five.
At IKM-Manning, Kuemper collected 10 hits, with four by Schwabe and two by Loew. Hilgenberg, Lux and Schwabe each had three RBIs, and Loew, two.
Hilgbenberg and Loew both doubled. Venteicher was the winning pitcher.
Kuemper was 4-5 overall and 3-3 in the conference as of this weekend.
