Carroll High swimmer Emma Myers comes up for a breath during an Oct. 4 swim in a meet against Boone. At the regional swim meet held in Fort Dodge Myers set a new school record in the breaststroke with a time of 1:05.93.

It seemed that on Saturday Emma Myers had something to prove.

The junior swimmer from the Carroll swim team proved that she is lightning in the water at the regional swim meet held in Fort Dodge.

Of the five events that the Tigers are sending to the State meet later this week, Myers is a part of four of them.

On top of qualifying in all four of her events, Myers was able to make a little bit of history at the meet.

In the breaststroke event Myers proved just how fast she was as she was able to win the event. That automatically qualified Myers to the State swimming meet, but it was the time that Myers finished the event in that had people talking.

Myers was able to swim the event in a time of 1:05.93 which is the fastest that any Carroll swimmer had ever swam the breaststroke event in the history of the Carroll swim team.

The new school record was just one of four events that Myers was a part of that will be headed to the Marshalltown YMCA for the State meet this weekend.

Myers was also a part of the 200 yard medley relay team which finished fifth overall. On that team was Hailey Burns, Myers, Amelia Holt and Zelda DeMoss. The Tigers had a fifth-place time of 1:53.35, which will send them to the State meet.
