Her visit and meeting with what will be her future teammates sealed the deal.
Last spring Kara Peter virtually had her future plans at her fingertips. Several Universities were interested in bringing her to their college to continue her volleyball career.
However, Peter, had narrowed down the list to just a few schools, but the list was narrowed to one after she was able to visit Drake University.
According to Peter, that visit to the Des Moines campus helped her make up her mind. She was able to see how the team is able to practice together, and how they are coached.
That helped her make up her mind. On Wednesday afternoon, the Kuemper senior made her future plans official as she was able to sign her letter of intent to play volleyball for Drake University starting in the fall of 2020.
Peter said that she is planning on majoring in elementary education while attending Drake.
This year Peter finished with 552 total kills, leading her team. She also was named, for the second straight year, to the All-Tournament class 3A State volleyball tournament team.
In her career, Peter collected a total of 1,393 kills. She also used her height to finish her four-year high school career with 284 total blocks. She was able to be named to All-District and All-Conference teams throughout her high school career.
