A history-making basketball coach will soon lead activities programs at Kuemper Catholic, which has become known for its own basketball history.

Friday afternoon the Kuemper Catholic High School announced that they had hired Mike Power as the next activities director for the school district.

Power is replacing current activities director Chad Klein, who is stepping down from the position because of a move he is making to the Boone Community School District.

Kuemper’s new activities director, Power, will begin on Aug. 1.

He also has a long history of success in basketball. According to information from John Steffes, the President of Kuemper, Power is the winningest head coach of women’s basketball at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City. Additionally he is the seventh all-time winningest women’s basketball coach at the NAIA Division II level.

Steffes also said that Power has had experience as an athletic administrator at the college level.
