Six champions crowned in 2022 season

The 2022 Iowa high school football season came to a conclusion over the weekend. 

More than a few schools were able to add to their legacy of winning championships over the weekend. 

Things started on Thursday, Nov. 17 when the eight player championship was played. In that game Remsen St. Mary’s was able to down WACO 38-16. It is the second championship for Remsen in the last three years. 

In class A, Grundy Center blanked West Hancock, Britt, 27-0. 

The last game in the Thursday championship games featured the class 4A championship as Xavier battled Lewis Central, with Xavier of Cedar Rapids winning 45-38. 

Class 2A played their championship on Friday, Nov. 18. There Central Lyon/George-Little Rock won 10-6. 

In class 3A Harlan downed Mount Vernon 30-23. 

Van Meter was able to add another class 1A title to their championship as they beat West Sioux 35-7. 

In the class 5A championship Southeast Polk won over Valley, West Des Moines 49-14.
