Tigers take down Spencer, Fort Dodge at dual meet

Carroll was able to take down both Fort Dodge and Spencer in a dual meet held on Thursday.

The Tigers were able to win nine of the 11 varsity events on Thursday night. That allowed Carroll to best Fort Dodge 91-71. Against Spencer Carroll was able to gain a 96-66 win.

“The girls had another great meet. Nine first place finishes,” said Deb Danner, the head coach for the Carroll High swim team. “Amelia Holt had a fantastic meet taking 1st in the 50 Freestyle. She is really developing as a sprinter. Amelia also helped the Medley Relay and 200 Freestyle Relay to a first place finish.”

Holt was able to win the 50-yard freestyle race with a time of 26.54. Teammate Ashley Beagle finished third with a time of 28.05.

Holt also turned in a fast time in the 100-yard freestyle race. She finished third in that event with a time of 1:00.47. Teammate Sophia Polking finished fifth with a time of 1:03.93.

Holt was the lead-off swimmer in the 200-yard freestyle relay race. There she was joined by Hailey Burns, Ellie Beagle and Jenna Currier for a winning time of 1:45.7.

The Carroll team of Sydney Bellinghausen, Lydia Dose, Emily Hansen and Ashley Beagle finished fourth in the same race with a time of 1:57.57.

Holt also swam the third leg of the 200-yard medley relay race where she was joined by Sophia Polking, Emma Myers and Burns. They finished with a time of 1:59.71.

In the 200-yard individual medley race Emma Myers was able to win with a time of 2:23.61. Bellinghausen was able to finish sixth in the same race with a time of 2:58.79.

Jenna Currier won the 100-yard butterfly event with a time of 1:00.17. In third was Ashley Beagle who had a time of 1:11.25.

Ellie Beagle was able to win the 500-yard freestyle race as she had the fastest time of 5:44.22. Burns would finish fourth in the same race with a time of 6:20.41.

Currier added another win in the 100-yard backstroke event with a time of 1:02.43. Polking was able to finish third with a time of 1:10.48.

Myers was able to win the 100-yard breaststroke event with a time of 1:10.8. Hansen was able to finish sixth in the same event with a time of 1:24.03.

Carroll finished the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle event as the team of Ellie Beagle, Ashley Beagle, Myers and Currier turned in the fastest time of 3:52.8.

In the same event was the Carroll team of Zelda DeMoss, Dalaney McAndrew, Polking and Hansen who were able to finish sixth with a time of 4:36.38 in the race.

In the 200-yard freestyle race Ellie Beagle took second with a time of 2:07.83. Burns was fifth with a time of 2:16.63.
