Titans battle against Emmetsburg in regional semifinal

Monday night, the South Central Calhoun Titans were gunning for an upset win over Emmetsburg.

On the road in the regional semifinal, the Titans’ battle against the E-Hawks ended after three sets, as the E-Hawks were able to continue their season.

The first set featured the Titans and Emmetsburg battling throughout the entire set. Although the E-Hawks were able to gain the win 25-17, the Titans had been able to gain some confidence for the rest of the match.

Emmetsburg changed up its attack in the second set, which allowed the E-Hawks to gain a 25-15 win to go ahead 2-0 in the match.

South Central Calhoun fought off the E-Hawks through the third set, but eventually Emmetsburg was able to gain the win, 25-17 to take the match.

With that, the Titans’ season came to an end after a record of 16-23 on the season.

Riley Batta led the Titans with seven kills in the match. Keira Hammen added five. Kortney Riley finished with four, and Laci Riedesel added three.

Sally Musselman had six assists. Batta added five. Kortney Riley and Sayer Steig both had three assists each.

Kylee Schleisman, Riley and Emma Geno all had seven digs each. Batta led the Titans with two aces in the match.
